Make your social media work for you. Literally. It will WORK for you.

Social media is the ultimate brand accessory your business needs to plug into today. When your social media is up to par, it’s doing you and your brand a service. It’s truly just as valuable as your best employee.

THE DIGITAL AGE

What once was a world of printed phone books and newspaper advertisements is slowly fading away. While these platforms are not obsolete, business strategies are changing at a rapid pace. Rarely do people look up your business information in the phone book, they just “Google” it. And if your information is not readily available on the Internet, you’ll be overlooked.

The digital age is upon us and has been for quite some time. Social media is simply becoming a more efficient and advanced platform for businesses to reach larger audiences. If it’s not embraced, opportunities for your business’ success will likely be missed. Therefore, it’s important to become educated about social media and how it can improve your bottom line and literally WORK for you and your business.

HOW CAN SOCIAL MEDIA WORK FOR ME?

Make sure your info is up-to-date

Having a strong presence on social media is a key aspect for your company’s success. When looking up your business, people will likely search your company’s name on Google or on some social media platform. From there, consumers will be able to get all of the basic information they need to reach you – a phone number, address, services you offer, etc. Making sure this information is updated is absolutely necessary. If it’s not up to date, the potential customers will not be pleased. It could be they forget about your business and move onto a competitor.

By simply updating your information as it changes, social media will be working for you already. People will have the necessary tools in hand to move forward with whatever business they’re planning to give you. And that right there, is money in the bank.

Be consistent about posting content

We’ve all searched for a business’ Facebook page and have come across months-old content as the business’ “most recent” post. And man, it’s a bummer. The first thought a customer has is, “Are they even open anymore?” The second, “Looks like they don’t really care.” This goes for your Google listing, Facebook page, and Instagram account. It can be a real blow to your business’ credibility, but there are ways to fix it!

If your business has social media accounts USE them to your ADVANTAGE. If managed effectively, they will literally work for you by attracting more and more social media users to your page. By having more social media users, the more likely your content will be seen and the more business you’ll get. There are many resources out there to help you effectively manage your social media while balancing everything else at work. For example, scheduling apps. Posting manually can be time consuming, so using apps such as Buffer, Hootsuite, Planoly, or Tweetdeck can help you schedule posts ahead of time so you can beef up your social media without cluttering your schedule.

Our rule is to choose one or two social media platforms and do them well. If you haven’t been on Twitter since the last election, it’s probably time to delete the account. That way, at least people don’t get a negative connotation of your brand in their minds.
